    • Do you have experience of giving information and advice in an advice service setting?
Could you deliver advice from your home, and occasionally travel to Mencap offices and events, when needed?

We are looking for a Learning Disability Caseworker, based in our Learning Disability Helpline for England, to manage a caseload of enquiries from people with a learning disability, their families, carers, and supporters.

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position. This is a home-based role, with occasional travel to Mencap offices, community events and other locations when needed. There may be occasional work outside core hours, including travel and overnight stays, to meet service needs.

      As a caseworker you will:

      • Respond to enquiries by telephone, email, over Teams, and sometimes at public events.
      • Deliver end-to-end advice casework that is asset based and outcome focused.
      • Complete and accurately record any advice given, noting outcomes and alerts.
      • Deal with distressing or difficult calls in a calm, professional manner.
      • Deal with complex cases regarding a good knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.
      • Demonstrate your in-depth knowledge on a clear advice area, such as Community Care or Housing.
      • Deliver presentations at various events.

What will you bring to the role?

      • Experience of giving advice professionally.
      • Knowledge of Social / Community Care and/or Health, including Mental Capacity, assessments, care charges, access to healthcare, health inequalities, and diagnosis.
      • Experience of dealing confidently with complex cases including safeguarding.
      • Robust understanding of data protection and confidentiality

This is not an exhaustive list of the role and its requirements, we ask that you read through the job description before applying.

Are you skilled in delivering advice on SEND issues, Housing, Welfare Benefits, or Community Care in an accessible, clear and empathetic way? If so, please apply with an up-to-date application form and covering statement.

We operate on a blinded recruitment process and will be unable to see your CV until interview stage.

      Job ID: 36850

This vacancy closes on 30th September with interviews to be held soon after.
