Are you ready to make a real difference?
Do you believe every young person deserves the chance to shine? Are you passionate about inclusion and helping young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) achieve their goals? If you’re organised, proactive, and thrive on connecting education, health, and care systems to create real impact — we’d love to meet you.
Mencap’s Barnet Supported Internship team is on the lookout for a dedicated and driven EHCP Coordinator to lead the coordination of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for our incredible learners.
About the role
As our EHCP Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of helping young people with SEND take their next big step — towards meaningful employment, independence, and a future full of possibility.
You’ll ensure each learner’s EHCP is accurate, inspiring, and tailored to their unique strengths and aspirations, acting as the key link between learners, families, local authorities, employers, and education providers.
In this role, you will:
-
Lead and manage the EHCP annual review process in line with the SEND Code of Practice
-
Build strong, positive relationships with learners, families, and professionals to ensure joined-up, person-centred support
-
Coordinate new referrals and assessments for incoming learners
-
Empower learners to explore their skills, interests, and employment goals
-
Maintain timely, high-quality documentation that makes every learner’s journey clear and supported
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in SEND, education coordination, or learner support who’s motivated by seeing young people grow in confidence and capability.
About you
You’ll be the kind of person who loves keeping things organised, building trust with others, and making sure no detail slips through the cracks. You’re confident, compassionate, and understand the power of communication and teamwork.
You’ll need:
-
Experience coordinating or supporting EHCP reviews
-
A solid understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
-
Experience working directly with young people with SEND
-
Excellent organisational and time management skills
-
Confidence in meeting deadlines and handling detailed documentation
-
GCSE English and Maths (A–C / 9–4) or equivalent
-
A professional, inclusive, and person-centred approach in everything you do
