Micro-volunteering means doing small tasks that make a big difference. This role is great if you want to help others in a flexible way; online, at home, or sometimes in person.
You can choose tasks that fit the time you have, whether that’s a few minutes or a couple of hours. There is not a long term commitment, so you can take part as much or as little as you like.
What You Might Do
Online tasks:
- Like, follow, or share Mencap posts on social media
- Sign or share one of our campaigns
- Help write short bits of content
In person tasks:
- Help at an event or run a Mencap stall
- Give a short talk to a local group about Mencap
- Put up posters in your local area
How It Works
- Task alerts: You’ll get a message when a new task is available. Many tasks take about 5 minutes.
- Tasks: These are simple online or short in person activities, like sharing information, helping with a campaign, or putting up a poster.
- Staying connected: You’ll use Assemble, Mencap’s volunteering platform, to see tasks and get updates.
Time Commitment
- Very flexible and short term
- Tasks usually take 5–30 minutes, and never more than 2 hours
- You don’t need to volunteer every week
- You choose when and how often you help
- Every task comes with clear instructions and support, so you know exactly what to do
Micro-volunteering benefits Mencap because it allows many people to support the charity in small but meaningful ways. By offering short, flexible tasks, Mencap can involve more volunteers, spread awareness more widely, and support campaigns and events quickly. These small actions help create a bigger impact for people with a learning disability across local communities and online.
