Are you caring, patient, and passionate about supporting people to live full and active lives? Do you enjoy getting out and about, trying new activities, and helping others achieve independence? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
We are currently recruiting Support Workers to join our team in Lowestoft supporting three fantastic gentlemen aged between their 30s and 50s. This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same.
The people we support love spending time in their community and enjoy a wide range of hobbies and interests including sailing, swimming, watching football, attending music events, going for walks, trampolining, and making the most of sunny days out. Because the role involves supporting people to access activities in the community, we are ideally looking for someone with a full UK driving licence who enjoys being out and about.
As part of this role, you will be supporting people in their own home with everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, while encouraging independence wherever possible. Each person has individual needs and personalised care plans which require support with areas including personal care, manual handling, support with eating and drinking, medication administration, following SALT plans, and epilepsy support. The people we support are non-verbal, so we are looking for someone who is patient, observant, and able to communicate in different ways to provide high-quality, person-centred support.
We can offer full-time, part-time, and relief contracts to suit your lifestyle. Shifts are available between 7am and 10pm, with waking nights and sleep-in shifts also available. Sleep-ins are paid at a flat rate of £63.40, and weekend working is included as part of the role.
If you are looking for a rewarding role where you can genuinely make a difference and support people to live happy, active, and independent lives, we would love to hear from you.
Please note: This position does not meet the minimum salary requirements for a Health and Care visa under the UK Skilled Worker route, as set by the Home Office. Therefore, although Mencap is a licensed sponsor, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK, as we are not able to support new visa applications or sponsorship requests for this vacancy.
All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
