  • Retail Volunteering Coordinator (Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire)

Do you have a passion for volunteering and making a difference in local communities? Would you like to support volunteers to thrive while helping raise vital funds for people with a learning disability? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and motivated individual to join Mencap as a Retail Volunteering Coordinator. In this role, you will support and develop volunteering across our retail network within your region, working closely with shop managers and teams to create positive, inclusive and rewarding volunteer experiences.

At Mencap, we value a diverse and inclusive workplace and intentionally plan for the success of our colleagues in everything we do. We welcome applications from everyone, so come as you are and join us.

As a Retail Volunteering Coordinator, you will support all aspects of the volunteer journey across our retail shops and services within your region. The salary for this role is £28,810 per annum.

    Key things you should know:

    • This role covers the north of England and north Wales
    • A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is essential for this role
    • You must be willing to travel across your geographical area, with occasional overnight stays elsewhere in the UK when required
    • Mileage expenses will be paid by Mencap

    Key responsibilities:

    • Work closely with retail teams and shop managers across your region to understand volunteering needs and provide tailored support
    • Support the recruitment, onboarding, induction and retention of volunteers across Mencap retail shops
    • Help create positive and inclusive volunteer experiences that encourage volunteers to feel valued, supported and connected
    • Support teams to create accessible volunteer opportunities for people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences
    • Promote volunteering opportunities locally and nationally to help grow volunteer numbers across the retail network
    • Provide guidance and support to managers around volunteer processes, challenges and best practice
    • Support volunteer engagement initiatives, recognition activities and campaigns throughout the year
    • Work collaboratively with the wider Volunteering Team on national projects and continuous improvement work
    • Help ensure volunteering practices remain safe, inclusive and aligned with Mencap values and policies

    About you:

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have experience of recruiting, supporting or managing volunteers or people. You will have excellent communication and relationship-building skills and be confident working with a range of stakeholders across different locations.

You will be organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities at once. A passion for inclusion and community engagement is essential, alongside an understanding of the importance volunteers play in supporting Mencap’s mission.

An understanding of the needs and rights of people with a learning disability would be beneficial.

If you have any questions or would like an informal chat about the role, please contact Lucinda Morgan-Evans at [email protected].
