  • Do you have experience supporting people with a learning disability? Or perhaps you’ve worked in education, supported employment, or retail? If so — we may have the perfect opportunity for you.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, self‑motivated Employment Connection Agent to join our Employ Me team, working alongside our Chesterfield Retail store.

    This role is part-time (20 hours per week) on a fixed term contract until March 2028.
     

    About the Role

    This role plays a key part in our Employ Me programme, working closely with our Retail team to support volunteers with a learning disability to build their skills, confidence and workplace behaviours.

    You will collaborate with Mencap’s Retail and Volunteering teams, local employers, Jobcentre Plus, and support agencies to help individuals move closer to paid employment. This includes creating tailored plans, providing job‑coaching within a retail environment, and delivering employability activities such as:

    • CV development
    • Job‑search guidance
    • Interview preparation
    • Signposting to other activities
     

    We’re Looking For Someone Who:

    • Can work independently and use their own initiative
    • Communicates effectively across all levels
    • Builds strong, trusting relationships
    • Is approachable, organised and supportive
     

    Key Skills & Requirements:

    • Experience supporting people
    • Experience of delivering against targets
    • Knowledge of safe working practices
    • Understanding of the employability sector
    • Good ICT skills
    • Strong communication skills
    • Accurate record keeping and reporting
