Keeping Connected Telephone Volunteer

Can you spare a couple of hours a month to check in with some of the people we support? We are looking for volunteers to make phone calls to people we support with a learning disability, and who are members of our Mencap Visiting Service.

What will you be doing? 

• You will be calling up to 10 people who are registered with Mencap Visiting Service but waiting to be matched with a visitor.
• You will be making monthly calls to either the person we would normally visit or their support staff.
• You will be calling them until we match them with a visitor.
• We would like you to ask a few simple question about how the person we support is doing and coping at the moment. We will provide guidance to help you with this.
• After each call you will complete a short online form with an update about each person you have contacted. We will make sure you have received full training to do this before you start.

• Friendly and Approachable
• Reliable, Kind and Patient
• A good communicator (including listener)
• Willing to volunteer within guidelines and to take direction where necessary
• Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
