Job Advert

Do you thrive on being part of a busy, creative team who jump on opportunities and work together to deliver high quality comms? Then the Mencap media team would love to hear from you.

Now is a really exciting time to join our team; in the last few months alone, we’ve created campaigns that have won industry awards, supported fundraisers that have helped raise significant income and jumped on the news agenda to create big media moments for the organisation.

We are recruiting a new Senior Media Manager. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) permanent role, but we are open and flexible to part time or job share for the right candidate/s.

Due to the busy nature of this role, we’re a flexible team who largely work from home with some working days in the office where needed.  Outside of this, there will be times when you’re needed to support media opportunities in London or around the UK.

What will your day look like as a Senior Media Manager?

  • You could be briefing and attending a radio interview with an exec team member one day before leading a creative brainstorm session the next
  • You’ll be playing a significant role in managing and delivering the charity’s media work
  • Lobbying the Government and society for change
  • Increasing representation for people with a learning disability across the media
  • You'll support an efficient and successful press office function by taking part in a rota both day to day and out of hours, responding to media enquiries

Do you have the skills and experience to be our new Senior Media Manager?

  • You’ll be brimming with ideas and enthusiasm and know a strong news hook when you see one
  • You’ll be passionate about finding trends we can use and connecting the dots between complex messaging and how to make it into a snappy media headline
  • You’ll work with the Deputy Head of Media and Heads of Media (job share) to deliver Mencap’s media and PR strategy
  • You’ll provide an excellent media relations service, developing close journalist relationships

This is a hugely rewarding role where you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your knowledge and skills within a close, supportive team who really work together to get the best results.

If these sounds like the role for you please apply now with an up-to-date CV. If you want an informal chat, please call Kirsty from our recruitment team on 01733 873765.
