Job Advert

We support adults with a learning disability in a shared home in Letchworth. They all have different interests and would love a volunteer to come and spend time with them doing what they love! As well as sharing their interests, you will be supporting their social lives and a volunteer you will have the opportunity to make a real, positive, and meaningful impact in the lives of these lovely people with a learning disability.

Some of the activities you could be supporting a person with could be

  • Going for a stroll to a local coffee shop for coffee and cake
  • Visiting the local shops for a browse
  • Playing games at home or listening to some music
  • Watching a favourite TV program together
  • Looking over magazines together
  • Helping in the garden
  • Most importantly, spending quality time with a person with a learning disability doing what they love
When & where do I need to be available?
 
Weekly for 1-2 hours on any day of the week
 
As a Mencap Visiting Volunteer you will be:

  • Friendly and approachable
  • Reliable and patient
  • Interested in others
  • Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
  • Willing to volunteer within guidelines and to take direction where necessary
  • Good communication and listening skills
