    Mencap is looking for a strategic leader to manage and oversee our property and office portfolio across England. As National Facilities Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our offices reflect our values and provide welcoming environments for staff, volunteers, and visitors.
     
    About the Role
    In this pivotal position, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership for our property and office portfolio. This is a full-time, permanent position (37.5 hours per week) based in Peterborough. While we are flexible regarding your work location, there is an expectation to attend the office (with national travel as required). You’ll be responsible for upholding facilities standards, ensuring compliance and health & safety, and leading the development and implementation of new office hub models. Your work will be vital in making sure our spaces are safe, inclusive, and effective for everyone.
     
    Key Responsibilities include:
    • Lead day-to-day facilities management of Mencap’s national office estate, ensuring consistent standards and compliance.
    • Support the development and implementation of our national office strategy, including regional hub expansion.
    • Oversee mailroom operations and facilities administration, ensuring efficient handling of documents and fundraising materials.
    • Review and manage service charges, utilities, and budgets, identifying opportunities for efficiency and sustainability.
    • Ensure statutory compliance and health & safety requirements are met across all office environments.
    • Manage relationships with suppliers, contractors, and tenants, ensuring contracts are value-driven and performance-managed.
    • Act as the key point of contact for office-based staff and stakeholders regarding facilities issues.
     What You Will Bring:
    • Proven experience in facilities management across multiple sites.
    • Strong understanding of service charge and utility management.
    • Experience managing operational teams and third-party suppliers.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Ability to travel nationally as required.
    • IWFM or NEBOSH qualification (essential).
    • Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector (desirable).
    • Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency practices (desirable).
