Mencap are the leading voice of learning disability. Our vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.

We are recruiting Support Workers who are passionate and enthusiastic about helping others.

You will be supporting 9 individuals in the Sawston area in one of our supported living services.

Each individual has varying needs, so you will need to be flexible in order to support them. You will be supporting with day to day things like finances; household duties such as cleaning; and to prepare and cook healthy meals. Some of the individuals require support with personal care, so you will need to be comfortable in providing this element of support to all the people we support in the service.

It is important that you have a good sense of humour, are calm and approachable, but possess the ability to be assertive when the situation requires. It is important to the individuals you will be supporting that you enable them to challenge themselves to progress and achieve their own personal goals. The people we support at the Sawston service are aged between 30 -84 years and we have 5 women and 4 men.

They like to experience new things and will look to you to suggest ideas and support with these exciting activities.

Flexibility is a must as you will need to be available to work across various shifts to include; days, evenings and weekends and the time range from starting at 7am and finishing at 10pm. You must be able to get to the service for these start times.

If you are looking for a meaningful career and a role where you really can make a difference to people's lives; then this is the role for you.
