As a Director of IT at Mencap, you will work with colleagues who are passionate about using technology and data to underpin Mencap’s technological development, to be able to lead and deliver our future strategy for 2026-30. At Mencap we are looking for someone who is an experienced leader with exceptional leadership and coaching skills, and highly developed influencing and negotiation abilities, to drive forward our future technology strategy. You will possess knowledge and experience around IT security and regulations and have a natural curiosity about how technology and data can drive productivity and improve outcomes. Your experience includes managing operational and project budgets, understanding the charity and/or care provider sectors, and managing third-party suppliers and contracts. 

In the role as Mencap Director of IT, Digital and Data you will have a passion for empowering your team and bringing your whole self to work.   

 As the Director of IT, Digital and Data you will: 

  • Lead the IT department in developing and delivering the IT Strategy. 
  • Ensure our systems, equipment, and connections support over 7,000 colleagues in delivering their best work. 
  • Provide leadership and delivery to critical IT projects. 
  • Develop and manage the annual operating and capital expenditure budget for IT. 
  • Drive the development of enterprise technology standards and performance metrics. 
  • Develop and maintain an IT workforce with the appropriate mix of values, technical skills, and competencies. 
  • Provide coaching and leadership to the IT senior management and wider team. 
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team and build relationships with senior leaders and trustees.
