We are looking for a Relief  Worker to join our Service based in Cambridge  . Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins, weekends and bank holidays (Shifts are from 7am-2.30pm & 2pm-9.30pm)  

What does a Support Worker do?

As a relief Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.  You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality.  Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
  • Excellent communication skills and Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & Social Inclusion supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
  • Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day.  This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.  Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care. 
 
About our Service

Our service has a welcoming team who have passion for their work and a great and supportive team dynamic.

You will meet wonderful and unique characters in the people we support who will enrich your life, bring a smile to your day and a feeling of a job well done at the days end. You will be able to support them to live more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy lives.

You may bring your creativity to the role. If you enjoy art, music or have any other skill or hobby you are welcome to create activities for the people we support to learn and enjoy. They love to get involved and try new things.

Part of the role also includes planning and supporting with activities outside of the house and participating in the community to promote skills and individuality. This may be a trip to the local shops, movies, cafés, or it could be a trip to the zoo! One resident was recently supported on a trip to London, with overnight stay, to watch the snooker live. She was even on the BBC! You too can support with planning and accompanying on such memorable trips.

At the house we support people to live as independently as possible. This will include budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
