 Are you a kind and patient person? Can you spare some time, just 6 times a year to visit and make a huge different to a person with a learning disability?

We support a 75-year-old year old gentleman in Streatham who would like for somebody patient to visit him every two months for company and friendship. He enjoys quiet time at home, time in the garden or to go out for a walk in the local area with support staff. He is often on the go and doesn’t enjoy sitting down for long amounts of time. This gentleman has complex learning disabilities, so experience related to this field would be helpful, but not essential. He does not use verbal speech but will connect with you in other ways. This includes:

  • Gesture
  • Facial expressions
  • Leading you to what he wants.

The care team who works with him at his home are highly qualified and know him well. They would make sure that you feel well supported in your role.

You would need to be:

  • A person with good communication skills
  • Kind
  • Patient
  • Engaging
  • Up for a challenge
  • Passionate about supporting people with a learning disability
  • Over 18 years old

We offer a lifelong befriending service for people with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of individual people with a learning disability. 

Our visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing.

In many cases, our visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.
