We are looking for a Support Worker to join our Service based in Thornhill, Southampton on a permanent and full time basis (37.5 hours a week).  Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins, weekends and bank holidays.

Due to a nature of this service, we are ideally looking for applicants who hold a full, clean driving licence but this is not essential.

About the Service

This Service supports two ladies.  Both ladies are nonverbal so you will need to be to be patient and intuitive. In addition, you will need to be comfortable with providing full personal care, administering medication (following training) and moving people (i.e. push manual wheelchair).  People moving and medication training will be provided.

The ladies enjoy a range of activities, including listing to music, watching TV and films, attending the Mayflower Theatre, going for walks in the park, shopping and playing hand games.

What does a Support Worker do?

As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.

  • Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.
  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
  • Excellent communication skills/relationship building – supporting the person to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and Social events to promote life skills and individuality.
