Job Advert

The Volunteer Role

We are looking for volunteers to support our Supported Internship Programme in Leeds and Bradford.

We deliver relaxed classroom-based sessions to young people, aged between 16 and 25, to prepare them for work, and support them to improve their numeracy and literacy skills.

Along with Mencap staff and other volunteers, you will be supporting people on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

You will support them with the session activities, helping to keep them motivated and engaged.

Covid-19 safety

All staff and students are required to sign a confirmation at the start of each session to inform us they have no Covid-19 symptoms.

All surfaces are regularly sanitised, and social distancing adhered to in line with government guidance for educational settings.

Mencap are strongly encouraging all our colleagues to have the Covid-19 vaccine as a way to help protect each other and the people we support. This is especially important in direct support roles as evidence is starting to grow that the vaccine could help stop the spread of the virus, as well as protecting the person vaccinated from getting very ill.
