Job Advert

The Royal Mencap Society’s person centred, professional team in the Conwy area are looking for a responsible and motivated Female Support Worker to join them on a permanent, full time basis (37.5 hours per week) to support Adults with a range of needs.

Melverley is a three bed semi-detached house in Llanrwst which offers breaks to people with a learning disability who are living in their family homes.  We support a wide range of people of differing ages and disabilities.

It is therefore important that you are flexible and able to adapt your service delivery dependant on the individual’s needs.  The individuals you will be supporting require you to administer medication as well as provide personal care; so you must be comfortable with this.  It is important that you can support these individuals whilst also encouraging their independence.  You will also be supporting with day to day things like finances; household duties such as cleaning; and to prepare and cook healthy meals.  We deliver waking nights and sleeping support.

We would love you to be able to speak Welsh, but this is not essential.  It is important that you can drive because the people we support enjoy accessing the community and trips out to local beauty spots. The people who stay at Melverley also enjoy a variety of activities from walks, art and crafts, wildlife, rugby, gardening, swimming, baking, cooking, skiing, cinema, disco. Whilst maintaining a lively atmosphere, and offering activities to suit people’s preferences, Melverley puts a strong emphasis upon being person centred and giving people opportunities to develop their skills.  We would love someone who is patient, friendly, sociable and likes to get involved.

You will need to have:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to work to deadlines and within a constantly changing environment
  • Ability to complete paperwork
  • A willingness to participate in sleep-ins is highly desirable
  • A full drivers licence and a willingness to take out business insurance is essential for this position
