Are you passionate about supporting people with a learning disability to do the things they love?

We support a lady who lives on her own in Foxhole near St Austell. She loves company and a good chat. She is a very good artist and when the mood takes will paint and enjoy crafts. She has lots of indoor plants and would also love to improve her garden.

We are looking for someone who shares her interests to spend a few hours a week with her helping her improve her garden and work on various craft projects. As well as helping her with her hobbies, she loves a chat so in this role you may also want to take a trip to a café for lunch every now and then to have a natter.

As a volunteer, you would not need to be an expert in gardening or crafting, but if you share her interests then you can make a difference.

For this role, you need to be:
  • Friendly and approachable
  • A love of the outdoors and lots of energy
  • Available to volunteer regularly - preferably 2-4 hours once a week
  • Reliable and patient
  • Interested in others
  • Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
  • Willing to volunteer within guidelines and to take direction where necessary
  • Good communication and listening skills
 
For this role you will also need to provide two character references, and we will need to create a DBS check for you.
