Job Advert

Are you passionate about supporting people with a learning disability to do the things they love?

We support three ladies who live together in a shared house. Even though they like spending time with each other they would appreciate the company of someone else as well to bring a bit of excitement into the house!

We would like to get a volunteer who would come for a cup of tea and a friendly chat with the ladies. And if you could join in with their activities even better. The ladies like to do everything from crafts, baking to games, music quizzes and TV soaps, especially Emmerdale.

They like to have a laugh and as a volunteer, you'll be happy to participate in these sorts of activities with the ladies and staff on duty.  You do not need to be expert in any of these things, or bring anything for activities other than your fun creative personality.

We have an ambitious vision for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives.

Volunteering with Mencap is YOUR opportunity to help us achieve this, whilst having the chance to develop your skills, meet new people and join a passionate and dedicated team.

Mencap are strongly encouraging all our colleagues to have the Covid-19 vaccine as a way to help protect each other and the people we support.  This is especially important in direct support roles as evidence is starting to grow that the vaccine could help stop the spread of the virus, as well as protecting the person vaccinated from getting very ill.

In addition, it is mandatory that you take a lateral flow test on the day of your volunteering.
