Do you want to make a positive difference to people’s lives?

We are currently looking for a female Support Worker to join our team on a part time, permanent contract for 15 hours per week in our Great Tey service, where we currently have 6 adults who require varying levels of support. 

As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings (ideal for you early risers!) afternoons and evenings. Sleep-ins will also be part of the shift pattern. Typical working times include, but are not limited to, 07.00 – 14.30hrs, 09.00 – 15.00hrs, 08.00 – 16.30hrs and 14.30 – 22.00hrs and sleep-ins from 22.00 – 07.00hrs.

The best thing about flexibility? It's a two-way street. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you’ll have your own requirements.

Working as a support worker isn’t like any other job! The role of a support worker is varied, sometimes challenging but greatly rewarding. It’s about giving as little or as much support required by each individual to enable them to achieve the things that are important to them and live life as they choose.

The individuals in the service need support with their medication, personal care, finances and daily living tasks- although they like to be as independent as possible! The individuals we support have a variety of hobbies that they enjoy doing, which they will need support with. The type of hobbies the people we support enjoy, are eating meals out, visiting the cinema and attending different clubs.

Ideally you will have experience of working with people with learning and physical disabilities and an understanding of moving and handling and behaviours that may challenge, however this is not essential as we provide you with full, award winning training paid for by Mencap.

Due to the location of this service you would need a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.  We have three service vehicles so it is not essential for you to have business insurance.
