We are looking to recruit Relief Support Worker’s to join our dedicated team of support staff within our Ilford Service.  

The people you will be supporting love a variety of activities including music, watching television, dancing, shopping, baking, involving in meal preparation, art and craft, painting, gardening, socialising, going on day’ trips, cinema, being part of their community and can at times have a hectic schedule. All of the above play a significant part in their life.

We support a variety of people from different cultures so it would be helpful to have some cooking skills and idea's in this area. You should also be willing to support one of the individuals we support using a hoist and support on wheel chair both at home and in the community. You will be provided with adequate training to enable you to work confidently which includes manual handling, how to use a hoist, emergency first aid and more during your induction training.

You will need to be adaptable due to the complex needs of the service and the people we support.

We proactively seek involvement from family members. Being social and doing things that are of interest is something they truly value. However, for some, crowded social settings are not fun and that is something that some of the people we support find difficult to manage. People are vulnerable in the community and in their own home and require all staff to be vigilant when it comes to their safety and well being.

As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service as you will need to be able to work across a range of weekdays and weekends and shift patterns, including some sleep in shifts (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance.

The role of a Support Worker can be very challenging at times so it is essential to have a positive mind-set with a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. You will need to be quick thinking and able to commit to changes.

In return for your hard work we will support you through our award winning training to help you progress in your career with us! Driving is desirable for this role but not essential.
