About Mencap

At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You will have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more. With us, it is never ‘just a job’.

In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Job Advert

Would you like to finish work each day knowing you have made a difference?

We are currently recruiting for caring and positive, waking night support workers to join our support team to help us make our service in Taunton a wonderful place for people with a learning disability to call home.

This is a hugely rewarding role that will not only make you feel proud to support someone with everything associated with moving into a new home, but also to be part of such a memorable time for them. Together, you will be building new friendships, activities and opportunities in the local community, and beyond.

The people we support enjoy their bedtime routine, which could vary from watching TV, listening to music or just talking about their day. When they are asleep, you will be completing light domesticated duties, monitoring the people whist they sleep and supporting those who don't want to sleep. You will also support when they wake in the morning with breakfast and medication.

To join us as a support worker there is no need for you to have previous experience. As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with your initial learning, and ongoing progression opportunities, throughout your career with us.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
