About Mencap

Mencap is the leading voice of learning disability. We want to see a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.

We are determined to achieve this by changing attitudes, providing services and influencing those who can help us change the lives of people with a learning disability.

Job Advert

As a Mencap Visiting Service volunteer, you will be visiting two people with a learning disability in their local community to spend time with them doing more of the things they want to do.

The two people are brothers and live separately in the Reddish and Davenport areas of Stockport. You will visit them separately; bring friendliness and positivity to the role and support the gentlemen to access activities in the community. These may include:

- Pub trips
- Coffee shop visits
- Shopping trips to shopping centres
- Occasional visits to see each other

Both men are in their 60s. Between them, they also enjoy football (one is a Stockport County fan), game shows, Star Wars and visiting museums. One is very chatty and the other is quieter, and both would benefit from the same volunteer visiting both brothers.

We are looking for a male volunteer to support these gentleman, for which you will have a small budget to use so that you are not out of pocket for any of your visits.

In your role as a Mencap Volunteer Visitor you will make 12 visits per year to your matched beneficiaries.
