About Mencap

At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You will have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more. With us, it is never ‘just a job’.

In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Job Advert

We are looking for inspirational and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our hard working teams in Huntington. We have various contracts available offering Relief, Part Time or Full Time contracts.

Our aim is to support people with developing their skills, whilst also supporting them to integrate into their local community. We aim to do this through person centred practice, ensuring the people we are supporting are at the centre of everything we do. We will enable them to live a fulfilling life and also help them to achieve the things that are important to them.

You will be required to provide support in leisure activities, household tasks and with personal care. You will help the people we support to lead the life they choose as we focus on each individual, tailoring our care to their individual needs.

Flexibility is important as shifts are throughout the day and night, 7 days a week. We have two key shifts that we require flexibility for; 07:00-14:30, 14:30.  Weekends are also required, as you will be expected to work 3/4 weekends (not necessarily the whole weekend).  As all our shifts are on a rota basis you will know at least a month ahead what shifts you have been allocated for allowing you to plan your time accordingly.

As a support worker, all you’ll need to have is a positive attitude a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability and to be reliable. If you support the people within our service, we will support you with award-winning training and induction into your new role with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

Please note - an enhanced DBS is required for each successful candidate (as part of the Mencap Job Offer).
