About Mencap

At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You will have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more. With us, it is never ‘just a job’.

In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Job Advert

We are looking for a confident and bubbly Support Worker to support a gentleman who has autism, offering a Part Time contract.

You will be required to provide support in leisure activities, household tasks and in taking him out and about in the community. While out, at times the person you will be supporting may try to show off – so you will need to be fun but firm! Overall, you will help the gentleman to lead the life he want to live and provide support in anyway possible.

As you’ll be taking the person you will be supporting out and about into the community, a valid UK driving licence is required - as well as being fit and able to support them round the city. Consistency is also important as shifts will be; Wednesday 12:00 - 18:00, Thursday 09:00-15:00 and Friday 09:00-15:00.

Our aim is to support people with developing their skills, whilst also supporting them to integrate into their local community. We aim to do this through person centred practice, ensuring the people we are supporting are at the centre of everything we do. We will enable them to live a fulfilling life and also help them to achieve the things that are important to them.

As a support worker, all you’ll need to have is a positive attitude a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability and to be reliable. If you support the people within our service, we will support you with award-winning training and induction into your new role with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

Please note - an enhanced DBS is required for each successful candidate (as part of the Mencap Job Offer).
