About Mencap

Mencap is the leading voice of learning disability. We want to see a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.

We are determined to achieve this by changing attitudes, providing services and influencing those who can help us change the lives of people with a learning disability.

Volunteering with Mencap is YOUR opportunity to help us achieve this, whilst having the chance to develop your skills, meet new people and join a passionate and dedicated team.

Job Advert

Do you have green fingers? Are you passionate about gardening, and supporting people with a learning disability to do the things they love?

We need an enthusiastic volunteer to help maintain and beautify a garden at our supported living service in Poole for people with learning disabilities.

The people we support are very enthusiastic about gardening – especially one gentleman but due to his health needs, he is a little less steady on his feet and as a consequence less active in his garden at home. He would love some company to help with his passion, his garden!

As a Volunteer Gardener you will work alongside the person we support, using basic gardening skills (de-weeding, planting, nurturing) to help him maintain his beautiful garden.

There are no set days and time you’ll be volunteering. This is a flexible volunteering opportunity, where the hours are agreed by you and the person we support. However, we do ask for a commitment of at least twice a month for six months.

Please click on the Role Profile tab at the bottom of this page for more information about the role.
