About Mencap

At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You will have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more. With us, it is never ‘just a job’.

In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Job Advert
Thanks to the ongoing success of the current service, we are looking to expand our team of dedicated support workers in Havant. We currently support 7 gentlemen and 6 ladies at our Dolphin Court service, with ages ranging from early 20’s to mid-50’s and varying support needs  offering a real variety in personalities and experiences.

We are currently looking to expand our team of Waking Night Support Workers. Working times are structured in a 2 nights on, 6 nights off basis for Part Time staff and 4 on 4 off for Full Time – shifts are 10.5 hours and your rota will be confirmed in advance. Flexibility is important as all our shifts will be spread across the weekdays and weekends.

Duties vary for a Waking Night Support Worker and may include health and safety checks, visual checks of the people we support at night which may lead to personal care as well as some domestic jobs. These domestic jobs will include; keeping records and reports (which are of utmost importance), cleaning and ironing – could you be the domestic fairy we’re looking for?

As all the people we support have their own support plan, each person likes to be supported differently – so again, flexibility is key. However, all of the people we support also need you to be patient, kind and respectful – three things that make up the backbone of a good relationship.

Please see more about the people we support in the ‘additional details’ tab; where you will find a number of one page profiles of those within the service - offering you a real insight as to what it's like at our fabulous service.

As a support worker, all you’ll need to have is a positive attitude and a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. If you support the people within our service, we will support you with award winning training and progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

This post requires applicants to undertake personal care duties and therefore is only applicable for female applicants.
This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
