If you are looking for a role where you will not only be a valued member of a team, but where you will be able to support someone to live independently and see the difference you are making, then this is the role for you.

In Maltby we currently support 3 males who live together in their own home, they need around the clock support to enable them to carry out their day to day life. You will need to provide prompts and encouragement when it comes to personal care and you may need to physically support with this. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic male support worker who has the ability to remain calm in a sometimes busy and noisy environment. The gentlemen we support would love their support worker to have a high standard of cleanliness and will be patient when it comes to supporting them to cook healthy but tasty meals.

Things you may need to support with:

• Medication administration and management.

• Finances: budgeting, utility bills and benefits

• Helping to understand written official communications and action them

• Updating and maintaining relevant records

• Attending appointments and social activities. 

As you can see from the attached personal profiles, some activities the people we support enjoy are: going to the pub, watching cartoons, listening to music (especially Cliff Richard), relaxing with a good ‘cuppa’, days out, being crafty on days in, going to the shops, visiting the town, socialising and much more. 

Shifts are on a rota basis and include some weekends. Shifts are various lengths between 7am-11pm and sleep ins are a part of this role. 

You will find it extremely rewarding to see the people we support achieve goals, overcome challenges and enjoy their lives by accessing the social activities and day trips they choose. 

You do not need to have a driving licence or experience in this sector to apply, but you will need to share our Mencap values and be a caring, positive and trustworthy person who is keen to support adults with a learning disability.
