About Mencap
At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You will have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more. With us, it is never ‘just a job’.

In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Job Advert
Would you like to finish work each day knowing that you have made a difference? It is not just a job, it is a life experience. Join us and help us change lives.

We are recruiting Support Workers to join our established team in Winterton on Sea at a supported living service.

We currently have a 22.5 hours per week permanent role available and the shifts will be a combination of the following:

07:00 - 14:30 and 14:30-22:00. You will work two out of three weekends (2 on, 1 off), so flexibility to cover a variation of shifts is essential.

At our Winterton service, we support eight people who all have a learning disability. They all like to get out into the community and four out of the eight have less mobility so they require hoisting and they use wheelchairs.

The people we support like going shopping, for lunch or a coffee, they also like going swimming, bowling, and going to day centres.

As a Support Worker, you will be getting involved with all activities and tasks that the people we support wish to do. You will also assist with tasks around the home, which will include cooking and cleaning, arts and crafts and watching movies. You will encourage the individuals to keep their own personal spaces clean and tidy and promote independence for them to do as much for themselves as possible.

There will be personal care involved with all the people we support and this will include assisting with showering, bathing, dressing, toileting and administering medication (full training is provided and fully paid for by Mencap).

*An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate; paid for by Mencap (T&Cs apply)
