Job Advert

You will spend time with a local lady, visiting her 6 times a year. In the beginning you will get to know her by writing and making regular phone calls.  Once the pandemic restrictions allow it and it is safe to do so you will be introduced to her in person.

In this role you will be supporting a woman in her late 50's who livesin West Sussex.  She really enjoys TV game shows, the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, having her nails painted and perhaps a hand massage.

Having quite complex needs, her new visitor will need to be someone who with plenty of patience to build a trusting relationship with her over time. She would prefer a calm visitor to spend time with her. Initially visits will be based at her home and you will be introduced and get to know her with the support of Mencap staff and her keyworker.

By visiting every other month, you will make a huge difference.

When & where do I need to be available?

In your role as a Mencap Volunteer Visitor you will make 6 visits per year. These visits are flexible depending on your availability, and can include some weekends and evenings.

The length of your visits will vary but as you get familiar with each other they could last around 1 - 1.5 hours.

The woman lives in Bognor Regis, before applying please check your journey to make sure it's practical for you.

As a Mencap Visiting Volunteer you will be:
  • Aged 18 or over
