About Mencap
The Mencap Visiting Service supports older people with a learning disability who are often isolated and with little or no family. As a volunteer your visits will provide fun and companionship and an opportunity to do things the person enjoys.
Job Advert

You will spend time with Paul, visiting 6 times a year.

Paul is in his 70s and lives in a care home with 4 housemates, who also have a learning disability.

Paul enjoys listening to jazz music and taking part in one to one sensory activities including arts and crafts. He also loves going out for a drive in the home's minibus and visiting the local park or coffee shop.

Having quite complex needs, his new visitor will need to be someone who will have the patience to build a trusting relationship with him over time. He would prefer to spend time in quiet places. Initially, visits will be based at his home with the support of staff, but he would enjoy going out to the local park. Please note that Paul does use a wheelchair when outside of the home.

Visits will be every 2 months and can be weekdays or weekends. Visits will probably last around 1 hour.
