About Mencap

Mencap is the leading voice of learning disability. Everything we do is about valuing and supporting people with a learning disability, and their families and carers.

Job Advert
Volunteering doesn't stop at 5pm, there is so much more to do and sometimes we just need someone to do it with.

Gig Buddies matches people with a learning disability with a volunteer, based on a common interest or shared love for similar activities. For example, seeing live music, going to the theatre or socialising at your local pub quiz. Whatever your gig, there's a Gig Buddy for you.

As a Gig Buddy we ask that you commit to a half day of induction training and meet up with your buddy twice a month for 1 year.

You will be willing to travel to different venues to enjoy nightlife events together and will also have the option to attend group social events organised by the Gig Buddies Coordinator.

Russell Howard explains how Gig Buddies works click here.

If you would like to read more about the Gig Buddies Project please look at our project web page click here.
