Job Advert

Do you want to make a positive difference to people’s lives?

We are looking to recruit passionate Support Worker’s to join our dedicated team of support staff within our Ilford Service, which is home to 4 people with a learning disability. We currently have one full time position and two part time position available, offering 30 hours or 14.5 hours.

The individuals we support require support with personal care, medication, finances and daily living tasks. They require someone who can understand their needs and support them to achieve their goals. All 4 people have their unique traits and character which makes them special and a joy to work with.
They need someone who can provide active support by giving them choices, including them in the decisions and promoting their independence.

The people we support enjoy a variety of activities including walks, horse riding, pottery, swimming, shopping, socialising, going on days out and going to the cinema. They love to be out and about in their community. Indoor activities include life skills, cooking, horticulture, art sessions and indoor entertainment. We need someone who is able to connect with people while adding new and meaningful activities.

The individuals we support require someone who is active, creative and enthusiastic and can provide dynamic and creative ways to engage and involve people with in their home and out in the community. All of the above play a significant part in their life.

We proactively seek involvement from family members. Being social and doing things that are of interest is something they truly value. However, for some, crowded social settings are not fun and that is something that some of the people we support find difficult to manage. People are vulnerable in the community and in their own home and require all staff to be vigilant when it comes to their safety and wellbeing.

As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service as you will need to be able to work across a range of weekdays and weekends and shift patterns, including some sleep in shifts (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance.

The role of a Support Worker can be very challenging at times so it is essential to have a positive mind-set with a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. You will need to be quick thinking and able to commit to changes.
In return for your hard work we will support you through our award winning training to help you progress in your career with us! Driving is desirable for this role. However, not essential.

Within the additional information section, we have included profiles for the service you will work in. This will give you a better understanding of the role requirements.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you explaining why you will be a fantastic addition to the team!!

Enhanced DBS is required for each successful candidate. (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
