About Mencap
At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You will have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more. With us, it is never ‘just a job’.

In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Job Advert

Mencap are currently recruiting relief support staff to join our East Cornwall team. We are looking for staff to build a comprehensive relief bank. We have positions available at St Columb Major. The pros of relief work is you can pick up as many or as few shifts as possible, so it can work around your lifestyle. You also get the opportunity to work across various services.

You will be supporting an elderly lady to live independently in her own home and in the community.

The work will involve offering daily support to adults with a learning disability which can include support with shopping, budgeting, decision making, inclusion in the community and support with general day to day activities. The majority of the people we support love going out on day trips, either to some of their favourite places or you can offer your input on new and exciting places to see.

This role will suit an outgoing person who is committed to supporting and encouraging people to achieve their best. You should be motivated to look for opportunities and ways of working with people which can give new experiences and introduce them to new things.

A full, clean driving license is preferable for this role.

If you think that this role might suit you and you are passionate about supporting people to reach their full potential, then we would be very keen to hear from you
