Job Advert
We are looking for a proactive, passionate and sociable Support Worker to join our friendly and welcoming team in the town of Llanelli, Wales.

We are currently supporting four fantastic individuals with a learning disability who share a home in Llanelli. All individuals are a very busy bunch who thoroughly enjoy meeting new people, horse-riding, bingo, swimming and other fun weekly activities. Alongside all of the activities, all four people we support are a true joy to be around – they have a strong, loving nature, love to laugh and smile and enjoy a range of different things. What’s not to love?!

When at home, they like to be involved in the upkeep of their house and garden as well as household chores, such as cooking, cleaning and washing. As a Support Worker for Mencap you need to be able to meet the needs of those that we support as well as be flexible and resourceful in order to keep up with them!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with full personal care
  • Administering medication
  • Updating support plan
  • Accurately keeping notes of any changes within the people we support
  • Assist in gaining access to the community
  • Assisting with general household tasks
  • Participating in recreational activities

The team you will be joining are friendly and welcoming, with a supportive and encouraging Manager who is eager for their staff to advance in the best way possible. We are looking for someone with a ‘can-do’ attitude, who is enthusiastic, caring, strongly motivated, outgoing and has a calm demeanour when needed. The ladies we support within this service require their Support Workers to have a genuine interest in assisting them to live as independently as possible.

As a Support Worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings (ideal for you early risers!), evenings and waking nights. The best thing about flexibility? It's a two-way street. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you’ll have your own requirements – have you got commitments on a Thursday? Not to worry, we can factor this in, as well as other requests (provided you give us enough notice) into our rotas.

Please note, a full and valid UK drivers licence is required for this role.

By joining us in this service, you will have the opportunity to make new friends and become inspired to be the very best that you can be, which will guide and help you to develop within your chosen career path. So, why not express how great you would be for this position by clicking on the pink ‘Apply’ button below? You certainly won’t regret it! We include the people that you will support in our selection process so you will have a chance to meet them and introduce yourself during or after your interview.
