About Mencap

At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You will have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more. With us, it is never ‘just a job’.

In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Job Advert
Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the lives of people with a Learning Disability?

Thanks to the ongoing success of the current service, we are looking to expand our team of dedicated support workers in Waterlooville. We currently support three individuals at our registered service, offering a real variety in personalities and experiences of the people we support.

We are looking for relief support workers and shifts will include mornings, afternoons and evenings. Flexibility is important as all our shifts will be spread across the weekdays and weekends, with an alternate working weekend also required.

The people we support need you to be understanding, reliable and most importantly caring – one of Mencap’s key values. They also need you to support them in accessing new activities and new challenges within the community. In particular, one of the people we support would like support  on his swing, going to the fair and going to see the latest blockbuster at the cinema.

As all the people we support have their own support plan, each person likes to be supported differently – so again, flexibility is key. However, all of the people we support also need you to be patient, kind and respectful – three things that make up the backbone of a good relationship.

As a relief support worker, all you’ll need to have is a positive attitude and a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. If you support the people within our service, we will support you with award-winning training and progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

* An enhanced DBS will be required for the successful candidate (paid for by Mencap, Ts &Cs apply)

Job ID:  19323
