We are looking for a keen, compassionate and caring Support Worker to join our supported living service in Liskeard where we support 3 people with a learning disability. 
 
We have a minimum of 20 hours per week available on a permanent contract.
 
The people that we support in this service have different support needs, we have one gentleman who is fairly independent and has his own car, he needs support when it comes to managing his tenancy and finances and needs more of a guiding hand in his day to day endeavours. The second person that we support needs her Support Worker to be a little bit more involved - she's someone who loves her routine, and likes to hear the staff team being really positive.  She needs staff who will support her to be actively engaged in daily life and will promote her independence and daily living skills.  The third person requires support for 2 hours per day and this is more social support.  She enjoys a cup of tea, a chat, stickers and beading.    
 
It's really important that you are comfortable when it comes to supporting with personal care, and it's also equally as important that you understand that you will be providing an element of emotional support. One of the ladies that we support in this service is nonverbal, so she doesn't communicate in a way that you are used to - but she is very good at communicating what she wants, and you will really need to take the time to learn how to support her, and understand her needs and wants. It's also important that you are confident in your abilities to diffuse a situation, particularly when faced with challenging behaviour - rest assured, if you are confident then our award winning training will enable you to be successful in managing challenging behaviour and delivering positive outcomes for everyone involved.
